GAS RULES on the river

Bullhead City and Laughlin

If you launch your craft on the Colorado River, below Davis Dam, there are strict regulations about filling boats with gasoline on the river water, right next to Bullhead City.  DO NOT fill your tank with a gas can, or carry a gas can in your boat in this area.  There is a heavy fine for filling gas tanks with a gas can, or even carrying a can.  This applies to PWC too.  The ONLY way to get gas without removing your craft from the water is to use the gas dock across the river from Riverside Resort Hotel.  This is the only gas dock in the area for miles.  They have a special permit to sell gas on the river.  They use a gas absorbing diaper to fill your tank, preventing any spills into the water.  The nearest gas dock on the water is downriver at the Avi Resort, about 15 miles away.  Warning, the Avi gas dock closes after Labor Day, as well as the Needles Marina gas dock.  Topock is open year round.

Laughlin is the closest town to Katherines Landing marina andTelephone Cove dirt launch area on the south end of Lake Mohave. Laughlin is situated just south of Davis Dam.  Below is the handy link to find available hotel rooms in the area.
